Can anyone please explain to me the rationale behind these massively stupid corporate blunders?

In this age of instant viral social media, can there really be an upside to corporate homophobia (outside of St Petersburg, perhaps)? And in the case of Barilla’s chairman, Guido Barilla, and not unlike the unruly child of old, it would seem that the old guard of bigoted corporate icons should neither be seen, nor heard, if they don’t want to present their fiercest competitors with their soft, white, underbellies.

In the meantime, Bertolli has certainly not lost any time in welcoming Barilla’s missing market share.

In the meantime… at least some of us are getting along…

  1. Boom. For some reason people care more about alienating the hateful, bigoted customers than the ones that are just, you know, living their lives and trying to treat everyone with the respect they deserve.
