TM Smith: Open Book or Serial Killer At Large? You Be The Judge.

DARE TO HOPE BOOK TOUR & Contest

It’s a great day whenever I get the opportunity to host  a wonderful author such as TM Smith on my blog, so in celebration of the fact she’ s finally at my mercy, I dusted off a few questions I’ve been dying to ask her. (How little did I know at the time what a risky proposition it would be.)

– LE Franks

The Interview

How well do we really know the people we blog with? TM Smith may seem like an open book, but is she really? You be the judge

I’m not as interesting as you guys think. But then, serial killers usually hide pretty well amongst the ants of society.

What is the strangest thing you’ve put in your own (or someone else’s nose)?

A pair of tweezers. When my oldest son was 5 or 6, he to an eyeball from the game ‘cootie’ stuck in his nose. He says his sister did it, she says he did it, he said she said, regardless, momma had to pull that damn thing out!

If I read all your books, one after the other, over a long caffeine soaked weekend, what catch phrase, or theme would I notice in your writing? (I’ve done this btw).

Lots and lots of cussing, I cuss like a sailor and feel that my characters should as well.

Most writers I know have always written in one form or other, from the time they were children. But there’s always that triggering moment when they decide they can write a book for publication. What was yours?

An Author I wrote a review for told me that my review read like a short story and asked if I’d ever considered writing a book. I thought; what the hell? The worst is it will suck and that will be that. 8 books later…

Not that you were voted ‘Most Likely to Kill’ in high school, but what’s the best death scene you’ve either written or read?

It’s not an LGBT story, it’s a YA series I read and absolutely loved. The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laina Taylor. It’s about Chimera, reincarnation, angels, demons and so much more. But the way the scenes are written when there is death, good or bad, is very detailed and yet, not overly gory or wrung out. There is something poetic about the deaths in the books.

And Part II…

If it’s you splayed across the marble floor tiles of an Italian palazzo, your life force seeping out… tell us who’s the hero and who’s the villain, and what do you have clutched in your left hand?

Oh fun! Lemme think… Hero, Harley Quinn. That bitch is cra-cra, I would definitely want her on my side. Villain, what was James Vanderbeek’s character on Dawson Creek? Lord but I wanted someone to cut out his liver and put it in a mailbox much like what happened to Drew Barrymore in Scream. Clutched in my left hand would be a glass of Vino darling, not a drop spilled.

What is the first sentence of your favorite book of all time?

Favorite is a very broad spectrum for me and books. ONE of my favorites though the first line is “What the fuck are you doing?”

I know, that gives you nothing.

Many of us have pen names that we use and there are an infinite number of ways and reasons behind them, but I doubt many of them reflect the names we wish we’d been born with. If you could micro-manage the ultimate do-over, what birth name do you want? What nickname?

I love my name. My mother will tell the story of my name and smile. She grew up watching the Tammy movies with Debbi Reynolds and says she always knew that one day, she would have a little girl and she would name her Tammy. My dad loved The Beatles and wore out the album with the song “Michelle” on it. So my name is one part of something each of my parents adored, just like me! LOL

If anyone is curious, that is why I use the pen name TM Smith, because it is the name my parents gave me.

What’s your favorite Monty Python skit? Can you recite it from memory?

Not a Monty Python fan. Now if you want to talk Mel Brooks (blazing saddles, spaceballs, Robin Hood Men in Tights) or In Living Color (two snaps up in a circle!) I’m game! Back to men in tights though…

We’ve wiped Starbucks off the face of the earth, (those cosmically selective meteors can be such a bummer), taking the rest of the coffee crop with it. What will you do and can you even bring yourself to write?

Buy stock in Kahlúa! I’d keep writing, everyone would wind up dead, but I’d keep writing.

Thanks TM!

Anytime LE! Now, can we talk about men in tights?

An All Cocks story book 4

Tristan is the second oldest of the Brennan brothers and the odd man out. Most of the Brennan men have careers in law enforcement, but as a psychiatrist, Tristan chooses to help people in a different way. Quiet and restrained, he is content to hover in the background of his more gregarious brothers. Then he meets two men, each broken and damaged from losses beyond their control.

Gabriel Simenson is mourning his lover’s death. The random act of violence that took Gio’s life has left everyone at All Cocks reeling. The only thing keeping Gabe from drowning in misery is the friendship he’s forged with Micah, the newest model at All Cocks. He continues to struggle, and at the urging of his All Cocks family Gabe agrees to counseling with Tristan under one condition: Micah must go with him.

Micah Solo can relate to unbearable loss, having lost his leg and so much more in Iraq. The past two years he has been alone, adrift and vulnerable — the memories of war haunting his dreams, spilling over into his daily life. At All Cocks, Micah has found the acceptance he craves and the family he lost, but still he yearns for happiness and peace within.

The friendship between the three is instant, the mutual attraction evident. They circle each other, wanting more, yet unsure if it is truly possible. Is life the mundane reality they’ve each come to accept for themselves or do they dare to hope?

The All Cocks Stories is a series set within the world of online gay porn.

*Warning* Micah’s PTSD is told in detail, including flashbacks to his time in Iraq.
